ALASKA BROWN BEARS

10 DAYS – ANCHORAGE, LAKE CLARK NATIONAL PARK, KATMAI, BROOKS FALLS, ALASKA

Tour Details

Your adventure will begin in Anchorage, Alaska where you will board a small plane for a scenic flight over massive volcanos and stunning snow-topped mountain peaks.  Shortly after arriving at your relaxing backcountry lodge, where bears are commonly seen from the windows and decks, your brown bear adventure will begin.

Each morning and evening we will be transported between a variety of shooting locations by ATV with short hikes in between. The diversity of photographs that this area offers is exceptionally rich. Time will be spent photographing bears as they meander along the coastline, dig for clams in the expansive mudflats, and as they wander through the bright green salt marsh grasses at times full of colorful blooming wildflowers. Our professional bear guide will allow us safe and exciting encounters, and his knowledge will give us the ability to close the distance on these beautiful creatures and, capture images from frame filling distances with 300mm, 400mm and 500mm lenses.

Although brown bears are our primary focus, participants will get to enjoy two exciting excursions aboard a boat that will offer numerous opportunities with puffins, eagles, sea otters, and sea lions.

Our new itinerary adds Katmai National Park and Brooks Falls to this trip when the salmon are running for fishing bears!

Designed for photographers of all skill levels, participants will leave this photo tour with images and memories that will last a lifetime.

Testimonials

Brown Bear Photo Tour

“I’ve done a lot of nature/wildlife photography over the years but this was by far the best experience I’ve had.  Everything about this trip was absolutely superb: the organization, Aaron’s leadership, the accommodations, and of course, the bears!  I would highly commend it to anyone interested in a trip of this type.” 2 time Aaron’s Photo Tours Participant

Aaron's photo tours

“The Alaska Brown Bear Tour far exceeded all expectations. Aaron is an excellent tour leader. In addition to being a nice guy, Aaron is invested in every tour attendee’s success during the tour. He works with everyone to improve composition and to ensure optimal camera settings for each situation. Our naturalist guides were also great. Accommodations, food, and travel logistics were expertly handled. We pushed hard throughout the trip, due to excellent weather and wildlife conditions, and that ensured everyone had numerous, great opportunities to photograph the wildlife we were looking for.  I can recommend this trip without reservation to anyone seeking to photograph bears and other Alaska wildlife.” 2 time Aaron’s Photo Tours Participant
